ETON COLLEGE.
WINDSOR, ENGLAND
BRIEF: David Harber was commissioned by Eton Aggregates, a consortium of companies, to design a gift for Eton College after a decade of collaboration to dredge a world-class rowing venue owned by the school.
SOLUTION: The 1.5 metre stainless steel armillary sphere sits on a boulder surrounded by a further circle of stone monoliths, giving the scene a pagan yet contemporary twist.
“We're delighted with the sundial: it has proved extremely popular.
Some parties of school children have recorded it as
the most memorable thing about the site.”
